I found it!! The article about the ‘Gesture Card Game’ which I mentioned in my last post.
数学を元に展開する、作品は時に緻密すぎて作品の裏に隠されている緻密さが分からないほど。「紙でこんなことができるんだ！?」と、黒宮先生の発想の転換のすばらしさに舌を巻くことばかり。
The paper craft arts he created was always very well calcurated, yet we could see some kind of dynamizm. It seems to be composed by 2 side, well plan component and a spark of idea! As a child, I was always amazed by his craft, thinking;
“I never could imagine it’s possible to create some art piece like this from a piece of paper!”
なぜ数学か、って？黒宮さんは戦時中、大連で数学の先生をしていらしたのです。日本へ戻ってきてからは、戦後の何のナニモナイ状況で暮らす子ども達に「少しでも笑顔の取り戻せる時間を…」、との想いから紙で影絵を始めた事がきっかけだったと以前話してくださったのを覚えています。
During the WWII, he was a math teacher in Dailian (China). After coming back to Japan, he start making shadow picture arts with pieces of this and that for the kids in neighbors, just because he wanted to see the smiles and hear them laugh in cheerful voice. Soon he was asked by NHK which had just start broadcasting in black and white image, and his career as paper craft artist had started in TV shadow program.
中国（大連）との紙工作による友好作品交換展なども開催されており、私の作品もこの異文化交流の1つとして大連で展示していただいたこともありました。どっかにそんな記事もあったかな～？
He also organized a Friendship Paper Craft Exchange program between the children in Dalian and Nagoya. As a part of this cross-cultural communication, my art piece was also sent to Dalian. I think I can find some more article on Mr. Kuromiya!!
